Gyms are finally re-opening on June 7th in Ireland.
That gives us 21 full days to get prepared, to get ready, and to get ourselves comfortable to a return of working out around others.
The whole idea may sound daunting, especially after an extra-long lockdown we weren’t expecting and the prospect of going back potentially a bit heavier with our “post-Covid bods” 🤔
21 days to either build or break a habit
But remember, we also have the benefit of knowing when things reopen. It takes 21 days to either build or break a habit. Although that might still sound daunting, do yourself a favour and pick just one thing you would like to work on over the next 21 days. What will make you feel secure and comfortable going back to the gym?
There will always be things out of our control. But find something you can control. Find something you can work on every single day. A task you can accomplish repeatedly to top up your energy levels and keep you moving forward.
You can get a walk in daily.
You can drink more water.
You can build a morning ritual.
You can get your sleep cycle in check.
You can do a 10,15 or 30 minute workout.
You can begin to journal.
No matter what it is, spend the next 21 days hitting it daily and building a foundation for when things open up.
Too many people wait until it’s too late.
You might say “oh I’ll do it when things reopen.”
But remember, just like a workout, we still need to warm up. We got to get our mindset right. We need to have a plan. We need to be actively ready to take on the world. Why not have one of these things accomplished by June 7th.
No one expects you to have it all figured out when things reopen. Trust me, no one will have it all figured it out. Everyone will still go back with their own worries but you can always control your own mindset. You have the power to control how you feel and think.
So make today the start of it and let’s be ready to smash our goals in June when we finally get to meet again.
