Whether you’re an aspiring athlete or someone who strives to stay fit, staying motivated to work out in the off–season can be quite a challenge.
Here are some tips to help you stay motivated to exercise in the off–season.
Set Goals: Set realistic, attainable goals.
Short–term goals help you stay focused and motivated as a stepping stone to bigger, longer–term goals. This can be anything from increasing the intensity of your workout routine to becoming more active in your day–to–day life.
Create a Schedule: Scheduling your workout routine
This will help you stay on track and stay committed to your workout goals. This could even include writing down when you plan to complete specific exercises, or setting up recurring reminders on your calendar.
Find a New Workout Activity
If you’re bored by your regular routine, switch it up and try something new. This could be anything from hiking to spinning class to swimming. Incorporate new activities into your workout routine to keep it fresh and challenging.
Find a Workout Buddy
Working out with a buddy can help keep you motivated and accountable. Choose a buddy who is committed to your same health and fitness goals, whether it’s a friend or a personal trainer.
Reward Yourself
Establish rewards for when you stick with your workout schedule. This could be anything from a small treat like your favorite snack to a larger reward like a shopping spree. Choosing goals and rewards will help you stay focused and motivated.
Stay Mindful
Remember to stay mindful of your ultimate goal. Visualizing your desired body type, physical attributes or performance level can help keep you motivated to reach your goals.
Staying motivated in the off–season may seem daunting at first, but it can be easily achieved by following some simple tips. Maintaining a consistent workout schedule, setting attainable goals, finding a workout buddy and rewarding yourself for achieving goals are just some of the ways to stay motivated during the off–season.
