“The condition of being fit and healthy”
What is fitness? Fitness comes in many shapes and forms, however when it comes down to it, fitness is simply “the condition of being fit and healthy”.
It doesn’t matter what you do to achieve this, the only thing that matters is that it maintains your health, fitness and you enjoy it. If you can’t sustain it then it’s not fitness- you’re treating it as a short-term endeavour, a challenge to accomplish before reverting back to your vices.
For example, I love weightlifting and hiking. These are things I’ve done for years now and still find myself excited to do regardless of the fact that I’ve done both hundreds if not thousands of times by now.
Whether it be hiking, sports, CrossFit, weightlifting, biking it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you enjoy it and it helps you reach and maintain your goals.
If you haven’t already then I highly suggest you try multiple of these out! You’ll never know what you love until you’ve tried it all.
Find something or things that match your life style and schedule. One day it may be a walk, another a bike and yet another a sports class/leisure activity.
What is fitness? Conclusion
Fitness is not a short term endeavour. Something you do once and forget about once you’ve reached your goals. Welcome this lifelong pursuit as a part of your life to improve all its other aspects.
Find things you love to do, make time for them and do them. The value that a little bit of activity you genuinely love and can’t wait to do adds to your life is immense and I promise, if you do take the steps and time to do it you’ll be forever grateful you did.
