Let’s look at why salad is no.1 for making sure you eat healthy on a regular basis.
Eating fruits and veggies can be hard
Particularly of course if you genuinely don’t like them, have a busy lifestyle or are like me and have a takeaway opposite your house! Talk about the easiest way to justify why you aren’t eating your greens! But instead of justifying why we take the easy option, lets justify why you should get micro nutrients in your daily diet.
Salad is THE Best – Here’s Why:
No cooking needed
Don’t have time to peel and cut up carrots? Whip out the salad pack from your fridge, you know, that one that has the use by date coming up this weekend? You don’t even need to get a pan out or boil water for this one. Allow yourself a generous portion of what is one of the lowest calorie foods on the planet and you’re good to go.
Variety is at your fingertips
I must admit, English salads are pretty boring compared to, for example, a Mediterranean salad. But don’t worry about this, pretty much all supermarkets have a vast selection of different salads for you to choose from. So if you’re like me and hate salads that are 90% lettuce with the odd tomato thrown into the mix, then there will almost always be other options available to you. If you can’t handle salads on there own then don’t hold back with the sauces to flavour things up a bit. Stock up on salad dressing, salad cream and balsamic vinaigrette my friend, salad is now no.1 on your shopping list!
So many quality micro nutrients
Salads really can help you get vital vitamins and minerals. Green leaf lettuce contains vitamins A, C, B and K which help to maintain healthy skin, hair, teeth and bones. Minerals are very much involved here too with iron, calcium, potassium and magnesium helping to transport oxygen from your lungs to the rest of your body.
Oh and not to forget antioxidants are in abundance when it comes to salads which prevent cancer, cardiovascular disease and other chronic conditions.
