Which foods are you most tempted by? I am referring to those unhealthy foods like Doritos, chocolate, ice cream, and the list goes on and on. I don’t mean broccoli, chicken, apples, etc. You aren’t tempted by those, right?
Let me ask you a few questions about these unhealthy foods:
- Are you currently trying to lose weight?
- Do you have your “temptation” foods in your house? How about right now?
- Do you have them in your house regularly?
If the answer to these questions is yes… WHY? It is MUCH, MUCH easier to not eat those unhealthy foods when they are not in your house. Think about that for a second. You can’t eat what’s not in your house, right? And you probably never crave something so badly that you’ll get in your car that moment and drive to the store to get it. That might actually happen once or twice in your life, but not regularly.
It’s like I tell my kids all the time. I can’t really control what you eat when you go to your friends house or how much time you spend on an electronic device, but I can control those things in
my house. As adults, we’re really lucky because we can control those things when we’re home AND when we’re out at a friend’s or out at a restaurant.
It’s harder to say no to those foods when you’re at a friends house or when you’re at
a party or a special dinner at a restaurant. That’s why you should say no to those foods when you are at home. And even though it’s still tempting to eat those foods when you’re at home, the best way to avoid that temptation is to not buy the foods in the first place.
You can’t eat what’s not there, right?
