Nutrition Baked Sweet Potato Wedges Recipe

Did know sweet potatoes are packed with Vitamin A in the form of beta-carotene? And that this helps support healthy eyes?

These nutrient-packed veggies are a great staple for meals at any time whether it’s breakfast potatoes, traditionally baked, air-fried chips, or potato wedges. We’ll be focusing on the latter today.

Sweet potatoes are a great food to implement in the beginner chef’s diet. That’s because they are durable vegetables which makes it hard for even the most novice of chefs to mess up.

For today’s recipe we will need:
Equipment / Cookware
  • 1 Large Shallow Baking Sheet
  • Sharp Chopping Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Large Mixing Bowl
Ingredients
  • 2-3 Large Sweet Potatoes
  • 2 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Tbsp of Sea Salt
  • 1 Tbsp Black Pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 Tbsp Paprika (optional)

  1. Begin by preheating your oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Thoroughly rinse the skin of each potato removing any debris or dirt and pat dry.
  3. Using your cutting board and chopping knife, slice each sweet potato into large wedges as desired.
  4. Add all of your seasonings and olive oil to the mixing bowl, stir gently, then add your sweet potatoes.
  5. Toss your sweet potatoes around in the mixing bowl to get a nice coating on each potato wedge.
  6. Place your sweet potato wedges on your baking sheet, in a single layer ensuring that no wedge is stacked on top of one another–this will ensure each wedge is evenly cooked through.
  7. Bake for 20 mins, remove from oven, flipping your wedges on the other side, place back in oven and bake for an additional 10 mins.
  8. Optional: After this time, remove from oven and place into your oven’s broiler for no more than 3 minutes to get the outer skin crispier.
  9. Remove from broiler and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before consuming.
  10. Enjoy!
Pro tip:

If your potatoes are still hard in the middle before placing them in the broiler, allow them to cook for an additional 5-10 minutes at a time. Check for softness after each interval.

These sweet potato wedges can be paired with Lean Ground Bison Meatballs, Spicy Turkey Patties, Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, or any other entree that your heart desires.
