Now I believe that Boxing Training is one of the best forms of exercise for building the bodies “engine”.
Cardio, strength, speed, agility & power, after 15-20 years as a top Class International Heavyweight Amateur Boxer and over 200 Bouts, with a British Title and a Silver Medal in the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia (2003) under my belt, I feel that this type of training benefits the human body in so many ways.
I say this because now as an established Level 3 Personal Trainer with a full client portfolio and an average of 6 x 1hr sessions a day, my strong engine is what keeps me going. I think the great mix of cardiovascular & strength moves involved in Boxing Training could be the best type of training to combat today’s problems involved around exercise. Combining stress-busting compound moves with pads, bag-work and sparring relieves stress and produces the very best of workouts.
A typical Boxing Session delivered by me would comprise of:
- warm-up & stretch routine with deep yoga stretches;
- HIIT Circuit with 10 x 1min stances with a 30second rest in-between;
- then specific Boxing strength session with compound moves to improve explosive power in punching;
- technical workout with footwork drills, defensive drills & tactical sparring;
- AB Workout;
- Cooldown finisher.
These days the hard Boxing Sessions are not for me but for my clients. I use many great training techniques from my days on the Elite England Training Squad & Royal Navy Boxing Team and get great results from them. I have a great engine all due to my days of Boxing Training. Also, I currently compete in Spartan OCR Races and came 3rd in my age group in my last 5.5km Sprint Race. I do not compete for any glory but with a team of clients to motivate & train them to become a strong engine.
In conclusion get some Boxing Training into your routine for excellent results in strength, speed, cardio & weight loss.
