Read all about my story: from Fatty to Fitty
Frozen pizza, Cheetos, animal cookies, donuts, and sugary cereals. These devilish foods were and still are my nemesis. Let me start off by introducing myself. I’m Armand Reixach III, former heavyweight turned happy.
On the left, I’m what majority America sees at normal. On the right, I’m unattainable, correct? I’ve been in your shoes, I’ve been teased, and I’ve been embarrassed the early years of my life. I’m now 39 now, happy, and I’m willing to share my story to help others. I’m sure we all have the same story.
How did this happen to us?
Summer comes around, and you tell yourself, “This is the year I’m going to change!”. Yet, it never happens. I was around 10 years of age when I started gaining weight. By the time I was 15 years old, I weighed 220 pounds. I remember the time I decided to change. It wasn’t gradual; I was lying in bed one evening, I was turned to my side, and I was staring at the clock.
The time was 9:11 p.m. I had managed to scarf down an entire large pizza from Little Caesars, along with a couple of cheesy breadsticks for dinner! HOLY CRAP! It had only taken 3 hours for that pizza to get into my stomach and cause an unbearable, gut wrenching feeling within the pit of my stomach. I cried, crawled into a ball, and I remember repeating to myself, “I need to change, I need to change.”
From Fatty to Fitty
I made a conscious decision that night to change what I was doing to my body.
My nutrition habits didn’t change too much because I didn’t know that was part of the entire regimen. All I knew was that running and lifting weights were “working out.” I got a 2 inch wooden dowel and some empty milk cartons. I filled the cartons with sand, and I stuck the wood dowel through the handles of the cartons. INSTANT CURLING BAR! So, I thought. It worked for about a week, then it fell apart. And, I thought running would be a good start too. I lived in the high desert in southern California. Temperatures reach 105 degrees! I tried running, but with the high temperatures, the occasional loose dog chasing my heels, and the unseen results in my weight loss, I started to lose hope. It wasn’t till I was 16, when I got my first car, that I was able to really start changing my life.
I went to the nearby library, and I got a book written by Joe Weider called “Joe Weider’s Bodybuilding System”. It is a small book, but it shows the basics of working out. Then, I joined the local fitness club.
Now, I was in control of what I was doing. I was going to the gym, but I wasn’t seeing results. Everyone goes through it; they see the person they want to be, physically. How do they get that way? They must be on steroids, or they must be taking some magic pill, right? It took me years to learn how the body works. And, till this day, I am still learning. It wasn’t till recently that I really looked at the big picture of what needs to be done.
There is no secret to getting the perfect body.
There is no diet pill or rolly ab exerciser that will magically turn you into a lean machine. Just stop the madness of falling for the marketed diet and muscle gainers, PLEASE!
You don’t need a 9:11 pm moment like I did, but you do need to face yourself in the mirror and make the change.
