Training is great, but if your eating habits need work you won’t get the results you want
We’ve all been there. We’re pumped to start a new training regime and are happily getting up early to hit the gym before work. It’s after work that our problems start…
First, we get invited to leaving drinks for Colin from accounts. You don’t know Colin that well, but you do know Steve and he’s going so you can’t say no. Steve is fun and has an insatiable appetite for alcohol. It’s impossible to say no to Steve when you’re at the pub!
After prying yourself away from the pub, it’s late and you don’t have time to cook a good meal so you look on Deliveroo on your way home. Everything looks tempting with you’re hungry, so you try to pick a healthy dish. You find one, but then you also add some chips, a dessert and a fizzy drink.
Before you know it, you’ve eaten your daily allowance in one meal and undone all the good work you did at the gym that morning.
There is another way…
And you you don’t have to say “no” to Steve…Here’s the thing. Preparation is the name of the game to success.
Imagine, instead of having to make a (bad) decision about what to eat on your way home from Colin’s leaving drinks, you knew that you had food already prepared at home waiting for you. No need to bring up Deliveroo, just Uber to get you home quicker!
Here you have two options:
- Prepare your food in advance so that you know it’s ready at home waiting for you
- Get a meal delivery service like Fresh Fitness Food so you have it at home waiting
Personally, I do both. I aim to prepare my own food most of the time but it’s not always possible and can get a little boring. For those occasions, I get Fresh Fitness Food delivered once a week.
How Does it Work?
The best thing is that you can completely customise your calories, foods you don’t like, and even your breakdown of carbs, fats and proteins.
A Quick Detour…
If you’re looking for some good ways to workout, why not try finding a trainer on Trainerize. There are lots of highly qualified professionals in your area, so a quick search will help you find them.
Back to the main point…
The key to healthy eating habits is to prepare! You can also do something easy to eat like tomatoes and mozzarella with olive oil and balsamic glaze. All the ingredients can easily be kept in the fridge and prepared very quickly when you get home.
Another favourite of mine is to have cucumber and carrot with humous. Tasty and healthy. If you feel like it, add a toasted pitta to the mix and it feels like a real treat!
See if that’s something you can get used to doing and it might help to ensure you aren’t over eating on the calories the next time that life gets in the way of your fitness goals.
