Lifestyle Taking Action Is The Key To Finding Motivation

Feeling motivated to start a new chapter of your life?

Nope, I don’t either

Motivation is something that is often deemed to be “necessary” in order to create change

Finding motivation though, can be tough, almost impossible to find

Leaving us in the same place that we don’t want to be

So what is the next step?

Taking action of course

Grabbing the problem by the horns and taking action NOW vs waiting for motivation to come knocking on your front door

But why?

The Power of Momentum

  • Often, motivation follows action. Once you start doing something, even if it’s a small step, you create momentum. You start to believe that you CAN do this.  This momentum can give you a sense of accomplishment, which then motivates you to keep going. Once you start believing in your ability then you can really unlock positive change.

The Role of Habits

  • Action creates habits. Motivation can be fleeting, but habits are more reliable. Got big plans to visit the gym 5 times a week starting next week?  Maybe start with walking into the gym TODAY or even tomorrow just for a visit.  Establish the beginning habits without having to jump fully in.  When you take action regularly, even when you don’t feel particularly motivated, you build a routine. Over time, the routine becomes automatic, and the need for constant motivation decreases.

Overcoming Resistance

  • Starting anything is overwhelming.  Often, we feel unmotivated because we’re overwhelmed just by the idea of starting. Taking action—even in small amounts—helps to break through that initial resistance. Starting is often the hardest part, but once you’re in motion, motivation tends to follow.

Motivation Is a Feedback Loop

  • Action can generate positive emotions like pride, confidence, or a sense of achievement, which then jumpstart your motivation to take more action. The cycle becomes self-reinforcing: You do something, it feels good, and that encourages you to do more.

Stop Finding Motivation and Take Action

Sometimes we just need to take action rather than wait for motivation to usher us to change.  To allow that initial spark to help give us a guiding light to aim for.  How can you take action today?
