Hope you’ve had a fantastic start to your day and ready for another weekly dose of wellbeing
I wanted to chat about something that’s been on my mind lately, and I think it’s something we can all relate to and may have experienced at some point in time.
It can cause a crippling anxiety leading to inaction and overthinking.
Do you know what it is yet?
It’s like chasing a rainbow; you’ll never quite catch it. And guess what? That’s totally okay!
#18 – Perfection
It’s such an interesting topic for me and when you break it down it truly makes sense. We look at someone else’s chapter 10 and compare it to our chapter 2. This then creates an anxious thought of not being good enough and it needs more work so we never implement it.
When we never implement, we never learn and then we stay paralyzed in the same place. No movement, no growth, no feedback just consistent thoughts of how to make it better. What type of toxic habit loop and circle is this..
I have provided below 5 tips to show you how embracing imperfection will help you move forward, take action and limit anxiety about perfection. Believe me, perfection only exists in your head because every imperfection in nature is what makes it nature.
This is the power of imperfection, it’s exactly the way it is supposed to be.
5 Tips
- Less Stress, More Success. Perfectionism can lead to a ton of unnecessary stress and anxiety. By letting go of the idea of perfection, we can focus more on doing our best and achieving our goals without the added pressure.
- Fosters Innovation. When we’re not obsessed with getting everything perfect, we’re more open to trying new things and thinking outside the box. This leads to innovation and creative solutions we might never have considered otherwise.
- Faster Progress. Perfectionism often leads to procrastination. When we’re constantly striving for perfection, we can get stuck in a cycle of overthinking and indecision. Embracing imperfection allows us to take action more quickly and make progress faster.
- Stronger Relationships. Nobody’s perfect, and that’s what makes us human. By accepting our own imperfections, we can be more empathetic and understanding towards others. This fosters stronger and more authentic relationships both in and out of the workplace.
- Personal Growth. Embracing imperfection means embracing the learning process. We’re all works in progress, and it’s through our mistakes and failures that we grow and develop into better versions of ourselves.
3 Methods of Implementation
- Set Realistic Expectations. Instead of aiming for perfection, let’s focus on setting realistic goals and expectations for ourselves and our projects.
- Practice Self-Compassion. Be kind to yourself! Remember that it’s okay to make mistakes, and they’re just opportunities for learning and growth.
- Celebrate Progress. Instead of waiting for everything to be perfect before celebrating, let’s celebrate the small victories along the way. Every step forward is worth acknowledging and celebrating!
“Strive for progress, not perfection.”
Let’s embrace imperfection together and keep making amazing things happen! So, let’s ditch the pursuit of perfection and embrace our imperfections instead.
Trust me, it’s a superpower you didn’t know you had! Keep Exploring!
