ExerciseLifestyle Why New Year’s Fitness Resolutions Fail

fitness resolutions

Every January so many people make a resolution to get into shape with fitness. By the end of the month, almost half will have quit, and by March, over 90% of them will have given up.

So why is this? We’ll take a look at a few possible reasons.

1. Going solo

Many try working out without a trainer or experienced friend, but this can be tough. They might have questions or struggle to get results. While the internet has plenty of info, A.I. can’t analyze your workout, or diet, or provide proper guidance.

2.  Unrealistic goals

This is another major problem. They’re way too big and not achievable. Also, if you’ve been drinking three Diet Coke a day for years, do you think you’re just going to stop and quit cold turkey? The same thing goes with alcohol, ice cream, chocolate, or pizza. You cannot quit habits. Likewise, you can’t decide if you’re going to start working out six days a week for two hours a day when you’ve never worked out like that before. And that brings us to our third issue.

3. Time

In the beginning, people will mark off a certain amount of time per day/per week to exercise. See, you’ve got to be really clever about how much time you can realistically spend training. Before you start working out, you need to figure this out. Find something that you know is going to be sustainable.

4.  Not having a plan

What exactly is it that you’re out to accomplish? Lose weight, put on muscle, or run a marathon this year? How are you going to train for that? And what about your diet? Are you going to start eating more healthy? How do you plan to do that?

5.  Motivation

This is the last major issue. That’s something that even I struggle with. I remember several girlfriends in the past who were as into fitness as I was, and if one of us was dragging on a particular day, we’d rally the other one to workout and it was great.

Now here’s the bottom line. The right personal trainer can help you with all of those issues. Of course, this can also present a sixth problem.

6.  Money

It costs a lot of money to hire a personal trainer at the gym or to come to your house.

So here’s the good news. An online fitness coach can provide you with solutions to all six of those issues without breaking the bank. It’s cost-effective and you still get the attention, motivation, guidance, and instruction that you need to make fitness a normal part of your life.
