Katrina discovered her passion for health and fitness after battling negative body image issues and disordered eating throughout her adolescence. She was always the last one to be picked to play team sports in Phys Ed class which didn’t help her low self esteem.
In college she quickly put on the pounds from an unhealthy lifestyle of substance abuse, poor nutrition, lack of sleep, and involvement in a toxic relationship. All the while stress was at an all time high from balancing a corporate 9 to 5 working at a law office and going to school.
On top of that, she had a family history of diabetes and high blood pressure which she was predisposed to if she didn’t make a change soon…
Thankfully, Katrina found a positive outlet through dance fitness. To her dancing was fun and didn’t feel like a workout. Little did she know this was just the beginning of her new life!
Katrina went on to try other means of exercise including strength training and body sculpting. she went so far as to compete in her first figure competition in 2013 and continued until 2015. However, she found the extreme dieting and training unsustainable. It also brought on body dysmorphia: A mental disorder in which a person is unable to stop being preoccupied about perceived flaws in their appearance that it affects normal daily life.
The lessons learned from being on both ends of the spectrum have shaped her into the coach she is today…
A coach who stands behind making her clients’ health their #1 priority and living an active, balanced lifestyle with sustainable habits, stress management, and a healthy relationship with food. No quick fixes here!
Katrina’s positive judgment-free outlook, educational background, and attention to detail make her an ideal coach for clients of just about every background: men and women, moms and moms-to-be, athletes, physical therapy and orthopedic patients, seniors, and college students. She has been recognized by her superiors for her work ethic and was awarded three times as Trainer of the Month as a tier 3+ trainer for Equinox Sports Club Orange County.
Katrina graduated from George Mason University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Kinesiology. She is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and is also certified through Precision Nutrition, Onnit Academy Foundations, Functional Movement Systems, Pain Free Performance Specialist, Primal Move, TRX, Trigger Point, Power Plate, Kettlebell Athletics, and Equinox Fitness Training Institute’s Pre/Post Natal Certification.
