Hi, I’m Amanda! I have been personal training and teaching fitness classes since 2011. I have certifications in yoga (500hr RYT), personal training, group fitness, and Spinning. My degree is in Philosophy, but after spending 2009 in Thailand, I fell in love with yoga and decided to pursue my career in fitness.
I have trained clients of all ages and fitness levels; Teens preparing for a sports season, moms during and post-pregnancy, individuals with health challenges, and seniors with mobility issues. My specialty is making fitness approachable to individuals with little to no exercise experience, and helping those who are more experienced with exercise keep progressing and prevent plateau.
If you’re new to exercise, we first work on teaching you *how* to move before loading the movements.
Putting emphasis on functional mobility first, FEELING good, and helping to incorporate fitness as a habit in a realistic, do-able way.
— THE APP —
In an effort to keep training my in-person clients during the gym shutdown of 2020, I developed a way to deliver my clients their program, with thorough instructions and videos to guide them through their workouts, without me physically being there.
This worked out so well for so many reasons.
- No more rushing to your 60 min personal training appointment and losing precious minutes if you got stuck in traffic
- Sessions are $50 each in person. The same session via the app breaks down to about $7 each depending on how many workouts you have each week.
- Your workouts are scheduled for you, but you can complete them at your convenience. (Sick? Reschedule. New plans? Do your workout later. Plus no more missing 5 of your 60 min workout if you have to pee or answer a phone call. You also won’t feel rushed in your break times, since you’re not paying by the minute!)
- I am still available via text, call, or FaceTime for whatever questions you may have during or not during your workouts. (For example: have an exercise you feel like your form could improve on, or something you’d like my eyes on? Set up your phone on the counter, reverse the camera so you can see yourself, film the exercise, and send it to me). We periodically exchange videos of you performing exercises to perfect your form and alignment (breaking it down this way is super valuable for teaching yourself healthy movement)
- We use the equipment you have available to you. Realistically, we can make any amount of equipment work. Have nothing? We start with a bodyweight program. Prefer planet fitness? We have *every* piece of equipment available to us. Have a home gym with some random weights and like to work out alone? Great! Literally anything you have, we will build a working program with. (And if needed, I’ll make suggestions on what free-weights to buy next).
- The feedback consensus has been that the instructions are even more thorough than being in person, since you have the instructions, cues and videos right there to watch and re-watch and focus on, AND you’ll have the option to text/call me with questions. I often send video responses or will FaceTime you (whatever you prefer) to adjust your alignment. This way I’m offering you three different ways to learn it, versus one, showing you in person.
— FULLY CUSTOMIZED —
My online strength training programs are designed for any and all levels, any age, any fitness level, and any amount of experience. I build your program for you completely from scratch, so the process begins with an intro call where we’ll discuss your history with exercise, injuries, health, struggles, lifestyle, your unique specific goals, where you’ll be performing your workouts, and what equipment you have available to you. We’ll then work together on a baseline assessment where you’ll do a couple of exercises (technically this is your first scheduled workout!) and we’ll log your results. This helps me pinpoint your fitness level begin to build out the beginning of your program.
It’s important to reiterate that there are no two programs that are the same. I don’t implement a single program with variations to all of my clients — rather, each clients program is built from scratch. From the exercises we’ll use, to the equipment, the frequency, the duration of your sessions, the focus of the workouts, how it’s periodized to bring you results — it’s *all* specified to what we will discuss in the intro call and the results of your fitness assessment.
