NVA Approach to Fitness:
To develop virtuosity in fitness by "doing the common, uncommonly well" with varied, functional movements to improve overall general physical preparedness through a mixture of many fitness modalities.
THE BIG FIVE FUNDAMENTAL MODALITIES:
1) Calisthenics - use of bodyweight gross motor movements such as running, standing, gripping, pushing, pulling, etc.
2) Powerlifting - muscle building movements expressed through compound movements
3) Metabolic Conditioning - type of high intensity workouts designed to challenge the two major energy systems that contribute to exercise effectiveness.
4) Gymnastics - movements to increase strength, balance, coordination and overall body mechanics
5) Olympic Weightlifting - develops coordination, athleticism, core strength and general body control.
