Hi! My name is Shivani and I am a certified personal trainer and a UBC Kinesiology student based in Vancouver, Canada. I have worked with individuals from many demographics including athletes, adults and older adults, and patients with Schizophrenia.

My interest in the body and movement started when I was very young as I was always involved competitive sports. When I moved to Vancouver to pursue my undergraduate degree I found it challenging to get acquainted with living independently in a new continent and my health and fitness goals were put on hold. Within the first year of university my body had changed and me along with everyone around me began to notice and comment on it. I started to struggle with mental health issues related to body image and identity.

The journey back to being content and happy about my body was challenging. I decided to further educate myself in nutrition and get my personal training certification to help me with my physical struggles, but I also learned a lot about self love and worth.

Today, I am a content, capable and educated personal trainer who is a huge believer in the body and mind connection. I have now worked with many clients and taught group classes.

I am also working at VGH as a personal trainer in the schizophrenic ward. I work with the patients to achieve their fitness goals and provide an activity to focus on in order to progress their mental wellbeing. I have learned a lot from the my clients there and the staff working in the ward. I hope to be able to contribute to the overall wellbeing of my patients, whether that is through assisting them improve their performance in the gym, being a listening ear, or helping them enhance their self-confidence.

I am a dedicated to helping my clients achieve their goals and support them through their turbulent times too!
